After oral surgery in Petaluma, California, what your child is able to eat will be limited, especially during the first week of recovery. Dr. Jiries Mogannam and Dr. Vicente Chavez understand that it can be difficult to know what is safe to eat, so they have supplied these guidelines to help you keep your child healthy during this time. Make sure to check out our grocery store list as well!

First and Second Days

  • Stay away from things that require a lot of chewing; stick to liquid and semi-liquid foods
  • Try having your child eat four to six smaller meals, rather than three large ones

Good Options: JELL-O, pudding, ice cream, applesauce, yogurt, soup, cottage cheese and protein shakes (no straws)

Day Three

  • Add in foods that can be cut easily with a fork

Good Options: Eggs, bananas, avocados, oatmeal, mashed potatoes, pancakes, steamed vegetables, fish, meatloaf, deli meats and soft pasta
